Volunteer opportunities - Neighbors helping neighbors
-
Helping people
A wide variety of activities are needed to support the members of our community, and we work to pair willing volunteer’s skills with those in need.
Transportation, preparing meals, writing letters, light housework or chores, bathing, dressing or feeding clients, shopping and errands, childcare, minor home repairs, and more.
Some volunteers prefer to offer physical and emotional support to those nearing end-of-life. Speak to the Program Director if this is where you feel you can do the most good.

Transporting equipment
HOH delivers durable medical equipment to those in need. This could be a hospital bed, safety rails, over-the-bed table, bedside commode, or walker for someone who has recently had surgery and can recover at home with the help of these items, or it could be a sit-to-stand device for someone with a progressive condition. Either way, equipment delivery is a very practical way to help our neighbors be safe and comfortable in their homes.

Helping the organization
Assistance is needed throughout the year to support the administrative and development tasks associated with running Hospice of Homer.
Assist with bulk mailings and newsletters, community education and outreach, fundraising, publicity, grant writing, childcare for active volunteers, clerical work, housing visiting relatives, maintaining the memorial garden and office plants, caring for the memorial pavers at WKFL Park, and more.
Call our office (235-6899) or email the Program Director at Service@HospiceOfHomer.org to learn about the variety of ways volunteers can be of service.
We’ll welcome you to fill out a form and check only the activities that you’re interested in.
